If I'm going to iron - I want a highly quality tool to make it easier. This is it.

It does make a difference when you iron cotton clothes. This is a great iron and worth money. It's a bit heavy, but that means that the iron is pressing the clothes without me having to push down. I use it a lot for quilting. A quality tool for a job.

Rowenta is the standard for irons

Love my new Rowenta!I had a different Rowenta model (now discontinued) for years and just recently started to leak. I use my iron every day under heavy usage. I do use the steam function rather than a water bottle. Any model of any brand iron will begin to leak at some point if you use the reservoir for the steam function, why, I have not clue, but they do. I do not consider my old Rowenta showing leakage as a fault of design. Again, I use my iron daily under heavy usage. I am a sewist and sew up to 12 hours a day. I am now using my old Rowenta as my household iron. When I was searching for a new iron, I did admittingly stray and tried the Oliso. My sister has had her Oliso for years, loves it and has never had any issues. So thought would give it a try as it is marketed specifically for sewists. Had it for exactly 30 days and it literally stopped working. Right in the middle of me ironing my quilt top; I set the iron on the silicone pad, it raised, I moved the top to the next section to be ironed, grabbed the iron and the feet didn't move. It had completely shut off. Unplugged it and waited quite some time, plugged it back in, nothing. Did that several times, even the next day. Nothing. Not to mention several other functions were disappointingly subpar considering the price tag. Immediately returned it. Will never stray again!Love the weight of this iron, even when the reservoir is empty. The reservoir holds quite a bit of water. I can see the water level just fine and I have to wear reading glasses when sewing. We have hard water so I do use distilled water. The soleplate glides like a skater on ice. The amount of steam is ka-pow-pow. I love the size of the steam/spray buttons. The selection dial is well-marked. I know some people have complained about the dial being easily turned while ironing. I find this confusing - you literally have to let your fingers fall from the handle and make an effort to turn the dial while ironing. I love the ball cord pivot so the backend does not fishtail from the cord being pulled. The auto-off function is nice and only takes a couple seconds to get back to temp when moving the iron to a horizontal position. And to top it off, I really like the color! There only a couple cons I can think of. The precision tip on this model is a little blunt compared to my old model. Still works great for my usage though. The indicator light to let you know the iron is warming up is a deep orange. I wish it was red or another color. During the day, it is almost impossible to see the indicator light; however, when the iron gets to temp, it makes an audible click so even if there wasn't an indicator light, the iron clicking tells you it's ready to go. I find these to be minor cons.Rowenta has been a long-standing trusted name in irons for over 100 years and for very good reason. Rowenta irons are worth every penny. I will only purchase Rowenta irons from now on. I know I sound like an infomercial but it is true. Solid name, solid iron, many years of reliable usage and great results.

4 star, okay but not perfect!

This is my second Rowenta iron; however, these irons are no longer manufactured in Germany so do not expect the German precision/quality. The iron is okay and appears to function as it is supposed to with an auto shut off and good weight (i.e., not too heavy, not too light). It does seem to dribble a little bit of water when I push the steam button to get a little more steam in one particular area of a garment which is definitely not ideal. I did see this issue mentioned in several other reviews but it did not deter me from purchasing it. However, it could be a problem depending on what fabric I am ironing!

Model 3182 was almost perfect, not this one

I had to give 1* in hopes that Rowenta will adjust the few small, but mega important features. To me the most important ones are:WeightWater neckWater amountDialand Steam button position.I have to to Complement the perfect stainless steel surface, steam holes and ease to raise the iron. The self turning off feature is awesome, however model 9280 was making a strange noise. The self adjusting temperature MODEL 3182 HAD IT ALL PERFECT, but it does not get hot enough when I do linnens and I wish it had bigger water tank. It's light weight with the same surface like the other models. The water neck is rectangular and super well designed so not even a drop spills. It is important that the water cover/cap opens wide.I tried Models 9280 8350 8080 5280 and I will not keep even one in hopes that a new design will come out. All I need was the perfect Model 3182 a bit hotter. They are all heavy. Sometimes weight listed on Amazon is in OZ another times in LB. Can we unify at least on Rowenta seller's profile? They all have the Steam button on the left now. It used to be right. Applying force multiple times in a staight line rather than diagonally is a simple physics and for a weak wrist trust me it is important. The temperature dials are positioned too much towards the front. It makes sence to be positioned towards the back under the pinky. Each time I am grabing the iron my ring finger would turn a bit the dial. Crusial with delicated fabrics, right?!Last wish for all models is that the water tanks are larger and their capacity is listed so I can kind of guess which one will last longer steaming.Thank you. You still have a great iron, I just wish my features are back with and hot HEAT is more ;)Also, why small letters on the dial? Why dark color dial? Past age 40 most folks do not see well. It is a pity to put glasses so I see that.- Vassya

High quality / use it for 2 years

Looks exactly like on pictures, quality is good, powerful, I use it a lot for my sewing needs, works perfect. If you use destilated water it will last forever, recommend to order. Don't listen to people who say it leaks for no reason, it can leak only when you start to use BEFORE it gets the temperature that you set up!
